Paula is an attorney admitted to practice law in California and Guatemala, the country where she was born and raised. She also holds a Masters in Computer and Communication Law from the University of London and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in both the US and EU. Paula joined the foundation after her oldest daughter was diagnosed with a DDX3X gene variation in August 2021, a few months before her 6th birthday. Her experience and education, along with her passion for diversity and inclusion, has made her a fierce advocate for her daughter since before her first birthday when global developmental delays were identified. She also advocates for Childhood Apraxia of Speech and bilingualism for children with CAS since her daughter’s initial diagnosis in 2019. Paula currently resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband and two daughters. Her hope is that by raising awareness and sharing resources, every child with DDX3X will have access to the best support possible for their unique journey.
